The biggest pellet plant “Vyborgskaya lesopromyshlennaya corporation” – “VLK” – is under bankruptcy

The Arbitrage of Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad region received the application from the pellet plant to admit the bankruptcy on 1st of July.

The unofficial leader of the plant Alexander Sabadash is in jail for 6 years for tax violation which were connected with return of VAT from exported pellets. The verdict was done in May 2015. Moreover a lot of companies are waiting debts for their wood, energy and money which were supplied on VLK.
The plant was constructed in 2011 with Andritz equipment. The capacity is about 1 000 000 tons of pellets per year. But the plant produces only about 40% of it. But still it is the biggest pellet exporter from Russia to Europe.
The plant is awaiting the certification of SPB.
